Co-founder of the United Confederate Veterans where he was known as "General" Jastremski. A member of the Knights of Pythias and served one year as Grand Chancellor. In 1876, he joined the Knights of the White Camelia. In 1870, he was foreman of Independence Fire Company #2; co-owner of the Louisiana Capitalonian, a Baton Rouge newspaper. 15 May 1880, appointed as L.S.U. supervisor; appointed aide-de-camp to Louisiana governor Wiltz. With the rank of major, twice ran for Louisiana governor. Commanded 3rd Louisiana National Guard Military District. ca. 1899, member of the board of trustees of St. Joseph Catholic Church. In 1880, he lived with his brother, John; 1905-1906, he lived at 415 Laurel Street.
