Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Prairie Point Cemetery with the Rev. Tommy Carson officiating.
Mr. Tarkington was born Dec. 27, 1932, in Henderson County. He was a U.S. Army veteran having served in the Korean War. He worked 27 years with Chattanooga Glass Company.
He was preceded in death by his parents, I.C. and Ruby Tarkington; sister, Juanita Tarkington; and brother, Troy Tarkington.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Doris Tarkington of Kerens; sons and daughters-in-law, Joe and Cindy Tarkington of Dallas and Dale and Suzanne Tarkington of Kerens; sister and brother-in-law, Hazel Lee and Earl Mullins of Mabank; brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and Francis Tarkington of Athens; a number of nieces and nephews; and Rossf beloved dog, Baby Doll.
