Obituary for Iris Minerva Lugo
Iris Minerva Lugo, age 66, a native of Puerto Rico, formerly of New York, and a resident of Gulfport, passed away Sunday, January 31, 2016.
Iris is survived by her husband, Herbert Lugo of Gulfport; her parents, Carmen and Jose Medina; her daughter, Melissa Caquias of Gulfport; her siblings, Luis A. Torres of New York, Nara Cortez of New York, and Quique Medina of Gulfport; and her grandchildren, Christian and Zenaida of Gulfport.
Iris traveled the world with her husband as he served our country in the U.S. Army. She was very accomplished in her career and retired as an administrator for the National Data Bouy Center. In Iris’s spare time she loved playing bingo, dancing and spending time with her grandchildren.
Memorial Contributions may be made in Iris’s name to the American Cancer Society. ( www.cancer.org )
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 4, 2016 at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 5, 2016 at St. James Catholic Church, Gulfport with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Biloxi National Cemetery.
