WILSON, CMRI,
Sister
Mary Gemma

Went to her eternal reward on January 31, 2016, at St. Michael's Convent in Spokane.
Born in 1949 in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, Eileen Wilson was the daughter of Jack and Eileen Wilson. Her love for people drew her to choose a nursing career after high school, and she loved her work in the nursery of a local hospital. A few years later, she decided to follow a higher calling, dedicating her life to helping people in a different way: by leading them closer to God. She joined the Congregation of Mary Immaculate Queen and took the name Sister Mary Gemma, making her first profession of vows on January 1, 1972.
Sister spent many years of devoted work in various missions in Canada, Nebraska, and Colorado, and then later in her religious life, in the Sisters' apostolic center and bookstore. It was through her work in Mount St. Michael's gift shop that many people have come to remember her as "the smiling nun at the bookstore."
Although increasingly burdened by ill health in recent years, Sister retained to the end her love for people, her deep and tender devotion to her Heavenly Mother - the Blessed Virgin Mary, and her beautiful smile.
Sister was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Joey; she is survived by nine of her siblings: Jim, Maureen, Catherine, Mary Rita, Paul, Mary Jo, Anne, Edward, and Jerry. Sister will be greatly missed and remembered in prayer by her religious family, the Congregation of Mary Immaculate Queen.
Viewing will be 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 4th at Mt. St. Michael Catholic Church and the Rosary will follow that evening at 7:00 p.m. The Requiem Mass will take place at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, February 5th at Mt. St. Michael Catholic Church (8500 N. St. Michael Rd.) followed by Interment ceremonies at Holy Rosary Cemetery. To view Sister Mary Gemma's online memorial, please visit www.hennesseyfuneralhomes.com.
