Richard D. "Smokey" Hebert, age 77, of Manitowoc, died Monday, February 1, 2016 at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center with his loving family at his side.
Richard was born on December 8, 1938 in Manitowoc, son of the late Henry and Dorothy (Robins) Hebert. He attended schools in North Fond du Lac and graduated from Hoarse Mann High School in North Fond du Lac. He served in the United States Army and Navy. On March 7, 1968 he married the former Cheryl Rickmeier in Menominee, MI. Richard was an engineer on the SOO Line Railroad for over 25 Years. He also worked at Holiday House and Bank First National.
He is survived by his wife: Cheryl Hebert, Manitowoc; five children: Brian Weimer and special friend: Paula, Fond du Lac; Paul (Linda) Weimer, Fond du Lac; Christopher Weimer, and special friend: Lora, Manitowoc; Molly Blink and special friend: Pete, Neenah; Anna Hebert, Manitowoc; ten grandchildren: Stephanie; Brittany; Ethan; Zachary; Dallas; Lindsay; Madison; Ethan; Connor; Yani; four great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law: Eugene Rickmeier, Neshkoro.
He was preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law and father-in-law; one grandson: Jordan Shortt; one brother and one sister.
A Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 5, 2016 at Knollwood Chapel Mausoleum, 1550 Highway 310, Manitowoc. Sr. Marlitta Henseler will officiate. Military Graveside Services will be accorded by Otto-Oas VFW Post #659 of Manitowoc. Relatives and friends may call at the Chapel from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00 a.m.
