Derek Lee (Bubba) Monsen passed away unexpectedly on January 30, 2016 due to complications from pneumonia.

He was born September 25, 1982 in Salt Lake City to Lee Blake and Cynthia Monsen.

Derek had a special sense about him, very sensitive and giving. He cared about his family and at any lengths he would defend them anyway he could. He was a happy-go-luck kind of guy and always had a silly grin on his face.

Derek graduated from Valley High School. Derek had many talents, working in the construction field. He loved being outside hunting and camping along with his family. He was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan from a young age.

We love you Bubba, we will see you again!

Derek was survived by his parents, Lee and Cindy Monsen; and siblings, Blake and Kylie Monsen. Britt Robinson was his love of his life, Christoper Robinson was like a son to him. Davin, Corbin, and Caden Monsen were his sons. Also survived by Britt's parents, Michael and Stacy Robinson; and grandparents, uncles, aunts, and many cousins. Preceded in death were his great-grandparents, Grandma Ontiveros; and a great-uncle.

At this time, we would like to express our appreciation and gratitude to the medical team at the Shock Treatment ICU: Dr. Brown, Dr. Lanspa, Dr. Dean, Dr. Skanchy; RN Team: Patrick, Normandy, Lisa L. Adam; and RT Team: Brad and Lori C.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at 12:00 p.m. in the Cobble Creek Stake Center, 8150 Grizzly Way, West Jordan. There will be a viewing at the church held on Friday, February 5, 2016 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and prior to the services on Saturday from 10:45-11:45 a.m.
Interment: Midvale City Cemetery.
