Dorothy Cahill

Dorothy Cahill, 82, of 751 Lander St., died Monday in a Reno hospital.

A native of San Francisco, she had resided in Nevada for 62 years.

She was a member of the organization of Business Women in Mining and Real Estate.

She was the widow of Jack Cahill (who she had married in 1906 and who died in 1942), a lawyer and businessman who served in the state legislature circle 1930. Together, the Cahills had discovered and operated the Birch Creek Mine, near Austin, and also the Cahill Mercury Mine, north of Winnemucca.

They built and ran the Golden West Hotel (now the Windsor Hotel), on West St., Reno, and the Sovereign Apartments on Court Street for many years.

Surviving Mrs. Cahill are: a sister, Frances Bernard, of Reno, and a niece, Doris, also of Reno.

A Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Friday in the O'Brien-Rogers and Crosby Funeral Home.

Requiem Mass will be celebrated in Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in the family plot in the Austin Cemetery.
