Joseph E. Paden, former mayor of Evanston, and a Chicago attorney since 1890, died yesterday at his summer home near Buchanan, Mich. Mr. Paden, who had been in failing health for several months, was 67 years old and a native of Litchfield, Ill.
He was mayor of Evanston from 1907 to 1913; was a member of the law firm of Paden & Kropf, 175 West Jackson boulevard; a former president of the Illinois Mayors' Association, and a member of the American, Illinois and Chicago Bar associations. His Evanston home was at 1554 Asbury avenue.
A widow and four children, David S., Dennison C., Philip and Mrs. Elizabeth Dawson, survive. Funeral services will be held at Rosehill cemetery tomorrow at 2:30 o'clock.
