Thomas A. Bunting Jr. CHESAPEAKE - Thomas A. Bunting Jr., 63, of Jolliff Road passed away suddenly Feb. 26, 2011, while spending the winter in Punta Gorda, Fla. He was a lifelong resident of Chesapeake, and was a retiree of the Norfolk Naval Shipyard Shop 56 and a former U.S. Navy serviceman. As an avid horseshoe player and a member of several local horseshoe clubs, he regularly competed in horseshoe competitions in Hampton Roads, across the state of Virginia and in Punta Gorda. He and June had spent the past few years traveling the country in their RV and splitting their time between Chesapeake and Punta Gorda. Tommy was a friend to all and eager to help family, friends and even strangers in need. He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Sophie Bunting; and his son, Thomas R. Bunting. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 40 years, June Bunting; his two sisters-in-law, Hylah Roddenberry and Alice Turner and her husband Joe; two nephews, Kevin Turner and wife Cindy and Joe Turner and wife Vickie; two grandnieces, Abbey and Anna Beth; two grandnephews, Josh and Isaac; cousins, Wayne and Margaret Deal, Robert and Dotty Bunting, James and Linda Butler, Lloyd and Debbie Bizzell and James and Vivian Bizzell; and a host of other extended family and friends. A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 12, in Christ Methodist Church, 3216 Taylor Road, Chesapeake, VA 23321. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall before the service at 1:30 p.m. A special thanks to our GulfView Family in Florida for everything.
