Born in Buffalo, New York, he was the son of the late Nelson and Irene (nee Daigler) Abt and was an Army Veteran of the Vietnam War.
A resident of Tonawanda, New York for the past 35 years, he had been employed at the Ford Stamping Plant in Woodlawn before retiring. Mr. Abt was an avid motorcycle enthusiast and scuba diver.
He is survived by his wife, Norma Kitzmiller Abt; his daughter Danae Wassinger of Columbus, Ohio; two brothers, Donald (Jane) Abt of Pendleton and Thomas Abt of Amherst; a sister-in-law, Kathy (Dennis) Ellis of Wilson; and a brother-in-law, Delbert (Annette) Kitzmiller of Bliss. Also surviving are several aunts, uncles and many nieces and nephews.
