NICK C. RIBICH, CLEVELAND TEACHER, ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL
Nick C. Ribich, a Cleveland teacher, administrator and World War II veteran, died Wednesday at Aristocrat South in Parma Heights.

He was 86.

He taught printing and industrial arts at Nathan Hale Junior High School.

He completed his 42-year career with a 12-year stint as assistant principal at Thomas Edison Junior High School.

His daughter, Sandra M. Sweet of Ann Arbor, Mich., said he was a popular teacher and a strict disciplinarian.

"He was the most wonderful, loving person you'd ever want to know," she said. "He had a great big heart."

During retirement, he continued working with his hands both indoors and outdoors and furthered his knowledge by reading and watching television. He enjoyed spending time with his family.

Mr. Ribich was born in Cleveland and graduated from John Huntington School of Art.

He attended Ohio State University and Cleveland State University and earned his master's degree in education from Western Reserve University.

He served with the 3rd Marine Barrage Balloon Squadron, attached to the 1st Marine Division in New Caledonia. He was a sergeant when he was discharged in 1946 after serving four years.

Other survivors include his wife of 54 years, Madeline; sons, Nick of Brunswick and Gary of North Royalton; seven grandchildren; and a brother.
