Jessie Dale Raynes Mallett, 97, of Buffalo, was reunited with her parents, husband and loved ones in Heaven on Feb. 6, 2016. Born July 23, 1918 to Frank and Binnie Raynes, she was the fifth child of eight born and raised on a small farm in rural Putnam County. She was preceded in death by all of her siblings: brothers, Harold, Rudolph and Frank, and sisters, Zorada Spencer, Helen Burdette, Mary Bumbaugh and Clyda Doddrill; oldest granddaughter, Jessie Annette West; and son-in-law, Arliss Whittington.

Jessie met and married the love of her life in 1938. Waldo worked in a factory while Jessie maintained the home, farm and their children, Elbert (Kathy) Mallett, Linda Whittington and Lelia (Joseph) Fix. All of the children are left to grieve her passing. After 53 years of marriage, Waldo went to be with the Lord in 1991.

From that time until about four years ago, Jessie maintained her home and independence. She took great pride in being self-sufficient. After moving in with her daughter, Linda, she was able to enjoy her time there and briefly visiting her other children. In July, Jessie went to the Teays Valley Center, who provided her with end of life care. The family is deeply thankful for the staff's kindness and love during her stay there.

In addition to her children, Jessie is survived by grandchildren, Jeff (Joy) Mallett, Jodi (Alan) Young, Lora (Chuck) Carpenter, Amy (Dira) Harris, Andrew (Lisa) Fix, Donald Cossin, William (Becky) Fix, Alicia Abshire and Aaron Mallett; as well as 17 great-grandchildren, each of whom will carry on her spirit and love of family.

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 10, at Raynes Funeral Home, Buffalo. Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery, Buffalo.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
