Mrs. Elizabeth Whitson passed away Friday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. H. McGinnis, 1218 Tremont avenue, after a lingering illness, at the age of 90 years.
She was born in Dorshire, England, Feb. 8, 1822, coming to America with her parents in 1830. On Nov. 21, 1839, she was united in marriage to Thos. Whitson, the couple coming to Davenport July 3, 1856. Seven years after coming to this city they moved to a farm in LeClaire township, where they resided until the death of Mr. Whitson, who passed away April 10, 1885.
Immediately after the death of her husband Mrs. Whitson went to the home of her daughter, Mrs. McGinnis, in LeClaire township, where the family lived until a year ago, when they removed to Davenport.
The survivors are three children, Harry Whitson, 722 East Thirteenth street; Mrs. George Deamer, LeClaire township, and Mrs. McGinnis, also of Davenport. One sister, Mrs. Vina McDougal of Toledo O. 18 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren, also survive.
The funeral will be held from the home of her daughter, Mrs. McGinnis, at 1:30 o'clock this afternoon and interment in Oakdale Cemetery. Rev. P.H. McDowell, pastor of the Calvary Baptist church will officiate.
