Mass for Peter D. Jans, 56, a former Evanston alderman and mayor, will be at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Athanasius Catholic Church, 1615 Lincoln St., Evanston.
Mr. Jans, a Republican who represented the city's 7th Ward from 1965 to 1977, died Thursday in Evanston Hospital.
A lifelong resident of Evanston, Mr. Jans served as acting mayor from May, 1970 to November, 1970.
He was president of the Peter N. Jans Community Golf Course and executive vice-president of the Oak Park Chamber of Commerce.
Mr. Jans is survived by his wife, Joan; three daughters, Kathleen Trapp, Mary Therese Gillespie, and Debra; two sons, Peter and John; three grandchildren; three brothers; and eight sisters.
