Jim was born July 16, 1933 in Sharon, Pennsylvania to Ray A. and Janet (Shuttleworth) Maxwell. He grew up in the Sharon area, and graduated from Sharon High School in 1951. Jim enlisted in the United States Navy on July 2, 1951 serving on active duty for three years, which included 9 months of sea duty aboard the USS Currituck. He continued his service to his country in the Naval Reserve and was Honorably Discharged on July 1, 1959 with the rank of Ensign 3rd Class. On November 15, 1957 he married Joan Bramble in Cleveland, Ohio. Jim earned a BA in Accounting from Fenn College (now Cleveland State University), Class of 1961.
He and Joan moved to Colorado in 1985, having lived in Boulder and Eagle County, and finally settling in Frederick in 2002. He had a long career as a CPA, working first for several businesses and then for many years in private practice as James T. Maxwell, CPA PC. Jim never truly retired, as he still maintained a small select clientele. Jim was a member of CENTRALongmont, and is a former member of Lions International in Wellsville, NY. He enjoyed playing tennis, beach vacations with family, and was a fantastic skier. An avid Broncos fan, Jim enjoyed Super Bowl 50 with his son, Tom, by his side.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Timothy Scott Maxwell. Jim is survived by his wife, son, daughter, five grandchildren, daughter-in-law, brother, sister, and many loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 10:30am Saturday, Feb. 13, 2016 at the Ahlberg Funeral Chapel. Interment at Foothills Gardens of Memory.
