SSGT Theodore A. Waak Sr., USMC

Theodore A. Waak Sr. age 82, of 9927 Wehausen Road, Manitowoc, died Monday evening, Feb. 9, 2004 at Shady Lane Nursing Care Center in Manitowoc.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, 2004 at Wesley United Methodist Church. The Rev. Neil Piepenburg will officiate with cremation taken place.

Theodore was born Dec. 23, 1921 in Manitowoc, son of the late Albert and Alma Rehbein Waak. He graduated from Manitowoc's Lincoln High School in 1940. Theodore was a U.S. Marine Corp veteran serving in the South Pacific from June of 1942 until October of 1945. On July 31, 1945 he was married to the former Dorothea M. Thiele in Manitowoc. Theodore was a steamfitter for the Pipefitters and Steamfitters Union Local #400. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife: Dorothea, of rural Manitowoc; three children: Connie Clements, Carpinteria, Calif.; Ted (Pam) Waak Jr., Cleveland; Dick (Joan) Waak, Simi Valley, Calif.; two granddaughters: Nikki (Brian) Yamaoka and Krissi Clements; one sister: Virginia Gorecki, Manitowoc; two brothers and three sisters-in-law: Donald (Charmaine) Waak, Manitowoc; Jerry (Germaine) Waak, Manitowoc; Dorothy Waak, Manitowoc; two sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law: Gert Janett, Mississippi; Don (Leona) Thiele, Manitowoc: nieces, nephews other relatives and friends survive. He was preceded in death by one brother, two sisters and one son-in-law.

Relatives and friends will gather for fellowship and a luncheon following the memorial service in the fellowship hall at Wesley United Methodist Church.

The Jens Family Funeral Home and Crematory of Manitowoc is serving the Waak family.
