It is with feelings of deepest sympathy that we chronicle the death of Opre Katherine Richards, eldest child of Rev. William Richards and wife, on Wednesday morning at 3:00 o'clock after a very brief illness.
She was born at Shabbona, September 11, 1908, and though young in years her pleasant manners and genial disposition endeared to her many friends who deeply sympathize with the bereaved parents in their hour of deepest sadness.
Last week the little one suffered from a slight cold and on her way to school Friday morning she walked in the water pools beside the walks ad sat throughout the morning in school with wet feet. Symptoms of sore throat called the medical attention of Dr. Vincent Sunday evening and on Tuesday morning membranous croup developed. A weak heart added to the seriousness of her condition and it was to heart failure that her death was directly due.
The funeral was held from the home at 10:00 o'clock Thursday morning and the interment was made at the D. and D. cemetery. Rev. Fred R. Vine of the Baptist church officiated. Many floral offerings told of the kindly sympathy of many friends, and the bereaved parents have requested the Recorder to express their earnest appreciation to all those who so kindly and generously assisted them in various ways during the trying ordeals of the past week.
