Georgia Lee Kanipe, 95, of Charlotte died Friday, November 8, 2002 at Presbyterian Hospital.

Born in Mecklenburg County on January 11, 1907 to the late George Washington Maner and Lille White Maner, Mrs. Kanipe has been a lifelong Charlotte resident. She had been a member of University City Untied Methodist Church, and was the oldest member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW Post 1160.

She is preceded in death by her husband Thomas Kanipe.

Mrs. Kanipe is survived by her children, Guy Kanipe, Springfield, OR and Tommie Hogan of Charlotte; nephew, Harold Rapper of Charlotte; 6 grandchildren, Tony, Anja, Alex, Christie, Connie and Karla and 5 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.

A service of remembrance will take place on Tuesday, November 12, 2002 at 7:30 p.m. at Carolina Funeral and Cremation Center, 5505 Monroe Rd. with the Reverend Peggy Bridgers officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

I've known Mrs. Kanipe all my life. She was a dear family friend.
