Alvin A. Drawbaugh, 92, died Friday, February 12, 2016, at Susquehanna Valley Nursing Home, Columbia. He was the husband of Lois R. (Tredway) Drawbaugh. Mr. and Mrs. Drawbaugh celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary on August 8, 2015.
Born June 20, 1923, in Dover, he was the son of the late Curtis and Zelma (Zeigler) Drawbaugh.
Alvin was a U.S. Army veteran serving on the Island of Leyte in the Pacific during WWII. He received the Bronze Star.
Alvin was the owner of Drawbaugh Office Equipment for 40 years. After he retired, he worked at Honey Run Golf Club.
He was a member of Chapel Church in Red Lion and a former member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church. Alvin was a member of the National Association of Accountants and National Office Managers Association. He was a former member of the Out Door Country Club and Red Lion Country Club. Alvin was an avid skier and golfer and participated in several golf leagues. He fulfilled his lifetime dream of going to Africa on a safari with Harry Allman of "Call of the Outdoors".
In addition to his wife, Lois, he is survived by two sons, Jeffrey and his wife, Tammy Drawbaugh of Mechanicsburg and Jon and his wife, Holly Drawbaugh of San Francisco, Calif.; a daughter, Dianna Laughman of York; six grandchildren, Kimberly Heilman, Wolfgang Drawbaugh, Lulu Drawbaugh, Dr. Stephanie Miller, Shannon Barnett, and Kyle Barnett; two great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; four brothers, Jack, Curtis, Gaylen, and Blaine Drawbaugh; a sister, Frances Hake; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Ralph, Glenn, Lloyd, and Carl Drawbaugh; and two sisters, Arlene Kilgore and Esther Drawbaugh.
Funeral services will be held Friday, February 19, 2016 at 1 p.m. at the Etzweiler Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, 1111 E. Market St., York, with the Rev. B. Tim Wagner officiating. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens with graveside military services by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. A viewing will be held Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
