Funeral Services Held Sunday For N. C. Johnston

Well Known Citizen Found Dead In Bed Saturday

Funeral services were held at 4:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the Harvey-Schiller Funera Home for Newell Crane Johnston, 60, one of Burleson county's best known citizens, who was found dead in his bed Saturday morning as a result of a heart attack. His lifeless body was discovered by a negro maid who entered his room at about 10 o'clock. The deceased, who had been connected with different departments in the court house here for the past 23 years, was rooming at the residence of W. H. Hundley at the time of his death. Mr. Johnston had been feeling badly for several days previous to the time of his death, but his demise was unexpected. Rev. A. E. Harrison, pastor of the Caldwell Baptist church, conducted the service and interment followed at the Masonic cemetery.

Pallbearer(s) were Mart Rogers, J. Malvin Hare, Jackob Fuchs, Harry Reeves, Babe Dowell and Hubert Fitzgerald.

A wealth of beautiful flowers covered the grave and a large number assembled from far and near to pay their last tribute.

Mr. Johnston was born at Chriesman October 17, 1878. He is survived by three sons, Milton, of Dallas, and Newell and Joe Edward of Lampasas; four brothers, W. K. of Rosebud, A. T. of Abernathy, J. E. of Chillicothe, and Geo. M. of Caldwell."
