PLEASANT GARDEN - Rachel Mae Fields Smith, 97, passed away on Friday February 12, 2016 at Whitestone Care and Wellness Center. Mrs. Smith was born in Chatham Co. NC on October 13, 1918. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Mark Smith, her father Robert D."Cap" Fields and her mother Minnie Ella Grundman Smith. She is survived by her son Roy G. Smith. The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 6:00 pm on Tuesday at Forbis and Dick Pleasant Garden Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Whitestone LLC, 700 Holden Road, Greensboro, NC, 27407. Forbis and Dick Pleasant Garden Chapel is serving the Smith family.
