Mrs. Elizabeth A. Rankin, 91, died Wednesday in a Topeka nursing home. She was born June 14, 1885 at Washington Court House, Ohio and had been choir director at First Presbyterian Church for 20 years. She had been a member of First Presbyterian for 75 years.
She was a member of the Topeka Women's Club, Topeka Organ Guild, director of music at Temple Beth Sholom, and had taught at Washburn University. She was a graduate of Western College for Women in Portsmith, Ohio and was a member of the staff of Newcomer-Diffenderfer Funeral Home for 14 years as director of music.
She was married to John Karl Rankin Feb. 17, 1916 in Topeka. He died in 1960. She also was preceded in death by a son, John Karl Rankin, Jr.
Survivors include a son, Howard A. Rankin, Portland, Ore., 6 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Services will be at Newcomer-Diffenderfer Funeral Home with burial in Topeka Cemetery.
