Dora Gant, beloved mother of Larry and Carolyn, and beloved grandmother of Cheray, Doug, and Missy died early Monday, Feb. 15, 2016 at her home in Mustang Creek Estates in Keller, Texas.

Dora was born in Byers, Texas to loving parents Bethel and Myrtle Dunn on June 28, 1918 and graduated from Byers High School.
She married William Douglas Gant on Sept. 3, 1938 , and they had two children.
Doug preceded her in death on July 11, 1967.

Dora was a feisty and independent woman. When her husband ,Doug ,was traveling on business when the children were young, and was gone for two weeks at a time, Dora made sure that they did not miss out on their sports and other activities even if it meant that she had to drive across unfamiliar areas of Dallas!

When Dora became a widow at the age of 49, she had never worked a day in her life outside the home. She applied at Dillard's and was hired to work at the Estée Lauder counter, serving as counter manager for many of the seventeen years she worked there, and she developed a faithful clientele.

Dora was a beautiful, classy, and gracious woman, affectionately called a diva by some, who loved clothes, make up, her home , and Christmas. Until the last year or two, she wore eyeliner, which SHE applied, and she always had to have lipstick on when her two favorite male hospice nurses, Tommy and Scott, came to call.

Dora also devotedly and lovingly cared for her parents for several years.

Dora loved her yard, and it was always gorgeous with many exquisite flowers. It was always beautifully maintained, and Dora often could be spotted with yard clothes on, but always earrings, on the riding mower!

Dora loved her family fiercely, and she was so proud of them all. We are very grateful that she moved from Wichita Falls to Keller ten years ago so that she was near us.

Dora was a devout Christian and was a member of Floral Heights UMC in Wichita Falls, Texas. What a wonderful example of living the faith she has been !

The family wants to thank the loving caregivers, especially Cindy, at Mustang Creek Estates in Keller, as well as the caring folks at Envoy Hospice who loved Dora also.

Survivors include her son, Larry Gant, and daughter-in-law, Evangeline, her daughter, Carolyn Hilliard, and son-in-law, Jack, grandchildren Cheray Gant, Missy and Matt Johnson and family, and Doug and Jennifer Hilliard and family, Dora's sister, Peggy Powers, and many beloved nieces and nephews, and finally beloved grand dogs, Pippin and Lily.
