According to Mary Cole's book "Descendants of Thomas Fitzwater and
Mary Cheney," this John had 170 acres surveyed in Augusta County, VA,
in 1749. He qualified as ensign in the Augusta Co. VA Militia on
August 21, 1752. He served in the French & Indian War from 1753 to
1763 and was a member of the 1st Rockingham Co., VA, court. He died
intestate and the last installment of his father's estate was signed
for (1786) by his son Thomas.

and Christine Tossawa, was born on 14 Mar 1727/8 in New Castle Co., DE. She was christened on 15 Sep 1728 in New
