Mr. Henry Thurmon Carey, 70, of Bio Lane, Hartwell, passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at his home.
Born on April 8, 1945 in Hartwell GA, he was the son of the late John Thomas Carey and Geneva Haley Carey. Mr. Carey was formerly employed at Owens Corning Fiberglass and was a self-employed Auto Repairman. He also loved NASCAR and Hot Rods and was of the Church of God faith.
Survivors include his wife: Linda Hart Carey, a son: Jeff Carey and his wife Sheba of Bowman; three daughters: Tina Segars and her husband Mike of Hartwell, Angie Graham and her husband David of Canon and Stephanie Carey of the home; a sister: Martha Perry of Anderson SC; six grandchildren: Angel Graham, Malachi and Hannah Carey, Ashley, Kala and Drew Segars and six great-grandchildren also survive.
Mr. Carey was preceded in death by his parents; a son: Troy John Chandler Carey; a grandson: Blake David Graham; seven brothers: James L, Z.O., Thomas, J.V., Joe, Talmadge and Willie Carey and four sisters: Amelia Brooks, Katie McClain, Sidney Bailey and Nancy Culpepper.
Funeral services will be Friday, February 19, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. Johnny Stowe officiating. Burial will be in the Memorial Garden of Prayer.
The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening. The family is at the home.
