Leo J. DuBois, age 73, at rest on Wednesday, February 17, 2016 surrounded by the love of his family and friends.

Leo was born and raised in Chicago and joined the United States Marine Corps when he was 17 years old. He was a proud veteran who served two tours during the Vietnam War.

Following his service with the Marine Corps, Leo went on to become a police officer and worked his way up rank to Chief of Police with the Bedford Park Police Station. He also attended the F.B.I. Academy in Quantico, Virginia.

Leo then retired after 40 years of dedicated service. He was a 46 year member of the Argo Summit Masonic Lodge #1133. He was also on the Village of Bedford Park Library Board and a member of E.S.D.A. of Bedford Park.

He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and enjoyed going trap shooting. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Leo is survived by his beloved wife of years 46, Susan (nee Salela); children, Anthony (Jodi), Christopher (Jamie), Jennifer (Barry) Koehler, Susanne (Jason) Sikorski; grandchildren, Danielle (Trey) Schexnayder, Cody and Amanda DuBois, Jaclyn and Marc DuBois, Jakob and Dominic DeRoos, Kyle, Reese and Logan Sikorski; brother-in-law, David (Joyce) Salela; nephews, David (Laura) Salela, Scott (Bridgette) Salela; niece, Kathy (the late Michael) Salela; and countless dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Louise (nee Manfredi) DuBois; nephew, Michael Salela; and mother-in-law, Angela Salela; father-in-law, Anthony Salela.

A celebration of Leo’s life will begin on Monday, February 22, 2016 with prayers in the Damar Kaminski Funeral Home Chapel at 9:15 a.m. the driving in procession to St. Joseph Catholic Church in Summit for a mass at 10:00 a.m.

Cremation rite will be accorded following Mass. There will be no cemetery services. Visitation will be on Sunday, February 21, 2016 at Damar Kaminski Funeral Home, 7861 S 88th Ave, Justice, IL 60458 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
