Monte K. Lacy Obituary
July 30, 1944 - December 31, 2023

PROSPER, TX - Monte was born into a farming family on July 30, 1944, the youngest son of Travis "Bud" and Lucille Lacy of Torrington, WY. Monte married his high school sweetheart, Jodi (Nevin), and they enjoyed 48 years of marriage, living a majority of their adult lie in Wyoming. Both were very proud of their western heritage.

Monte and Jodi were blessed with a daughter, Monet, and two sons, Loren and Rodney. Later in life, Monte and Jodi moved to Lake Kiowa, Texas to be close to their children, grandchildren, and eventually a great granddaughter. Monte enjoyed cheering on his grandchildren in their sports and other school activities. Monte was very proud to have worked on the north slope of Alaska on the construction of the Alaskan Pipeline, but spend most of his working years in Glenrock, Douglas and Rock Springs, working road construction and in the mineral mines of Wyoming, later moving to Elko to work in the precious metal mines of Nevada.

Monte was a do-it-yourself kind of person, with a can-do spirit that led him to be self-taught master of home improvement tasks, rebuilding their entire house over many years living in Glenrock. Along the way, Monte and Jodi discovered a mutual enjoyment of the game of golf. They took pleasure in many happy days playing golf together with their friends, and of course, Monte was always trying to build the perfect set of clubs, and proudly displayed his two hole-in-one plaques.

Monte was preceded in death by his wife, Jodi, in 2011. He is survived by his daughter, Monet (Jim) Thompson of Prosper, TX; son, Loren (Christie) of Frisco, TX and Rodney of Carlin, NV; and grandchildren, Brett (Kathryn) Thompson, Connor Thompson, Aoife Lacy, Ciara Lacy; and great granddaughter, Audrey Thompson. Monte is also survived by his sister, Peggy (Jerry) Long of Torrington, WY and brother, Thomas Lacy of Anchorage, AK.

A graveside inurnment will be held on Thursday, January 11, 2024, at Ridgeview West Memorial Park, 7800 Sanctuary Drive, Frisco, Texas 75033, beginning at 2:00 PM. To convey condolences or to sign an online registry, please visit www.tjmfuneral.com
