He was the son of Philip Burr and Rachel Knapp. He was a hatter by trade. Married in Danbury, Ct. to Betsey Judd, the daughter of Jacob & Abigail Knapp Judd. He went to Indiana from New York in 1848 along with his son Joseph Allen Burr. His father, Philip, was a first cousin of Aaron Burr. It is quite probable that his wife, Betsey, is also buried here. He is buried in the old section of the cemetery.
