Theodore "Ted/Todds" J. Amoroso, 81, of Spring Creek, Pa., died on Sunday, July 30, 2006 in the Veteran Affair Medical Center in Erie, Pa. He was born in Corry, Pa. on May 25, 1925, a son of the late Giovanni and Teresa Baglioni Amoroso. He was raised and educated in Corry, where he attended Corry area schools. He then joined the US Navy and served during WW II on the USS Patterson DD392 as the ship's cook. During the war, his ship assisted in removing the crew of the fatally damaged HMAS Canberra, an Australian Navy Ship. In 1994, the crew of the USS Patterson were invited to Australia to march in the Anzac Parade in thanks for rescuing the bombed ship and its crew. Previously, Mr. Amoroso had hosted his ships Reunion #13 in Warren, Pa. When he returned home from the service, he went to school for watch repair. He then worked for Taylor's Jewelry in Corry and Union City. In the early 1950's, he owned and operated Ted's Jewelry in Union City, Pa. After being in business for over 47 years, he retired November 1, 2000. Mr. Amoroso was a member of the St. Thomas the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, the VFW Post #264 in Corry, Union City Post #6773, the American Legion Post #237 in Union City, Pa., and the Corry Central Labor Club. He enjoyed dancing, gardening, socializing, working on his Farm, all tractors and mostly just tinkering. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Grace Amoroso, in infancy; also by his companion, Jan Littlefield, January 24, 2006. He is survived by two daughters, Theresa May and her husband, Robert, and Tonja Messinger and her husband, Bill; by a son, Theodore "Ted" J. Amoroso, Jr, and his wife, Terry, all of Corry, Pa.; by five brothers, Philip Amoroso, Joseph Amoroso and his wife, Rose, Albert Amoroso, Tony Amoroso and his wife, Gladys, all of Corry, Pa., and Ralph Amoroso and his wife, Judy, of Spartansburg, Pa. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Todd Amoroso, Toni Glus, Shelli McCall, Brent Amoroso and Chelsea Messinger; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Also by his dog, Keppa; and cat, Sonny.
