"Truck Driver Killed In Head-On Crash At Beck's Mill
A truck driver identified as Carl H. Lashley of Orlando, Fla., was killed instantly early Tuesday in a head-on collision involving two empty trucks, the Highway Patrol reported.
The accident occurred about 5 a.m. just south of Beck's Mill Bridge, three miles north of Ariton.
Investigating officers said Lashley, driving a truck owned by Hughes Supply Co. of Orlando either went to sleep at the wheel or became confused as to the route on the stretch of highway which is under construction.
The driver of the other truck, owned by Ashford Truck Lines was listed as Jess Hicks of Ashford. He was not injured."
