Arthur Mitchell "Aka" Mahi, 79, of Kalaoa, Hawaii, a retired Hawaiian Dredging Co. laborer and Isemoto Construction Co. employee, died in Kona Community Hospital. He was also an Army and Hawaii National Guard veteran who served during the Korean and Vietnam wars, and a Purple Heart recipient. He was born in Laupahoehoe, Hawaii.

He is survived by wife Theresa, son Kaleo, daughter Agnes Barrozo, hanai sons Joel Victor and Erik Warner, sisters Annie Mokiau and Mary Reyes, and four grandchildren.

Visitation and all-night vigil: 7 p.m. Friday at his residence, 73-4149 Hawaii Belt Road, Kalaoa. Additional visitation: 7:30 a.m. Saturday at Makaeo Pavilion at Old A's, Kailua-Kona. Burial to follow at West Hawaii Veterans Cemetery, Kailua-Kona. Luncheon to follow at Makaeo Pavilion. Casual attire. Flowers welcome.
