Mrs. Johnston Passes Away After Long Illness
Funeral Services Held Friday with Interment At Masonic Cemetery

After an illness of several months, Mrs. Alma Johnston, age 52, former resident of this city, passed away last Thursday afternoon, July 27, in the Methodist Hospital in Dallas.

Alma Haddox was born in Burleson County November 8, 1892, and had lived in this county until ten years ago. In 1908 she was married to Newell Crane Johnston and the couple made their home in Caldwell. Three sons were born to this union, Milton P., Newell C. and Joe E. Mrs. Johnston preceded his wife in death June 2, 1938.

In 1934 Mrs. Johnston moved with her son, Newell, to Cameron where they lived three years when he was transferred to Lampasas where they have since made their home.

In February Mrs. Johnston became ill and went to the hospital in Dallas where she remained almost continuously until the time of her death last Thursday.

Funeral services were held at Phillips-Luckey Funeral Home at 5 o'clock Friday afternoon with interment in the Masonic cemetery. Rev. W. A. Matherson, pastor of the Baptist Church in Lampasas officiated at the service and was assisted by Rev. N. A. Woods.

Surviving are her sons, Milton, of Dallas, Tech-Sgt. Newell C., and Master-Sgt. Joe E., who are serving in the U. S. Armed Forces overseas, her mother, Mrs. Mary Lou Haddox, a sister, Mrs. Addie Hill, a brother, J. H. Haddox, all of Dallas, and a brother C. E. Haddox of Corsicana.

Those serving as Pallbearers were H. G. Womble, Cecil Smith, D. W. Burns, Guy Douglass, H. D. Cherry and T. N. Cross."
