Lois was born in Starksboro village in what was originally the Frank N. Hill house attached to the Livermore & Hill Store. This was later known as the Charles & Ruby Craig house. She attended elementary school at the village school house except for a few years during WW II when the family was in Springfield MA. She graduated from Bristol High School in 1951 already an employee of the First National Bank of Bristol where she worked until she married John R. Burbank August 23, 1955.
The Burbanks honeymooned on a trip to Niagara Falls and continuing on to Great Lakes Naval Training Center in IL where John had two weeks remaining on his enlistment. They then moved on to Bethel College and Seminary, St. Paul, MN and Lois obtained a job at a large advertising printing company, Brown & Bigelow, where she worked until their first child was expected. They lived in MN for 8 years and Lois was a child-care giver for not only her own two children, Sonja and Nathan, but several others.
When John was called as pastor of the First Baptist Church, Bristol VT, Lois soon was again asked to work for the bank, now merged with the Merchants Bank of Burlington. In all she was employed by the bank for 17 years and received a small pension in retirement.
