Roy E. Dash, 87, passed away peacefully Feb. 18, 2016, surrounded by family. Born in Alva, Ky., he retired as a captain after 33 years of active service in the U.S. Coast Guard. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mary Ann; brother, Ray; four children; seven grandchildren; and two great- grandchildren. He led an active life in retirement, serving as secretary for the Portland Bowling Association and as a driver for Meals on Wheels. He loved bowling, tennis, spending time with family and reading The Oregonian. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. A service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2016, in Willamette National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Meals on Wheels.
