Pierceville, Kan. - VERA J. SNODGRASS, 102, of Pierceville, Kans., died Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2006, in her home.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Garnand Funeral Home, Garden City, Kans., with the Rev. Terry Major officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Garden City.
Area survivors include a granddaughter, Laura Kennedy, of Marlow, Okla., and her family.

Vera J. Snodgrass, 102, died Tuesday, September 19, 2006 at her home in Pierceville.

She was born Dec. 6, 1903 to Earl P. and Mary Fortier Smith at West Liberty, Iowa. She married Fred L. Snodgrass on Aug. 23, 1923 in the Plymell area. He preceded her in death on May 25, 1983.

She moved with her family to Finney County in the Plymell area when she was ten years old. She has lived there since. She attended Garden City schools and attended high school at Sabine Hall. She was a homemaker for most of her life and was also employed during WW II at the Garden City Airbase as a seamstress, repairing nylon parachutes for military pilots.

She enjoyed sewing, cooking, dancing, visiting with friends and family, playing cards, spending time at Lee Richardson Zoo and listening to music on KHYM.

Survivors include one son, Dale and wife Barbara Snodgrass, Mt. Hope; one daughter Shirley and husband Floyd Davis, Pierceville; 10 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchilden, and 13 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Leroy, daughter, Mary Joan Cronin, granddaughter, Rita Snodgrass, grandson, David Joseph Snodgrass and three brothers, Leverett Smith, Alvin Smith and A.E. Smith.

The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Garnand Funeral Home, Garden City with Rev. Terry Major presiding. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Garden City.

Friends may call from noon to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and from 9 a.m. to service time on Monday at Garnand Funeral Home, Garden City.

Memorials are suggested to the Great Plains Christian Radio or to Friends of Lee Richardson Zoo both in care of Garnand Funeral Home, Garden City.
