ELIJAH CHAPLIN DIES HOSPITAL

Farmer Succumbs Late Yesterday Afternoon After Extended Illness

Elijah Wayman Chaplin, 73, residing eight miles northeast of the city, died at the Mercy hospital at 4:20 o'clock yesterday afternoon, of a complication of ailments. He had been ill several months.

The son of Jesse and Mary Chaplin, he was born in Madison county December 31, 1863. He was married to Emma Peters, who died about one year ago.

Surviving Relatives.

The deceased was a member of the Red Men's lodge at Rigdon and was affiliated with the Masonic lodge at Summitville.

Surviving are one son, Alfred Chaplin, northeast of Elwood; one brother, John Chaplin, of Anderson and two sisters, Mrs. Lydia Coahran, of near Summitville, and Mrs. Bertha Duncan, of Kokomo.

Funeral Thursday.

The body was removed to the Copher and Fesler Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Rigdon M. E. Church Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock with Rev. Mr. Cunningham, of Alexandria, in charge. Burial will be made in the city cemetery.
