Funeral services were conducted Saturday afternoon in the Seventh Day Adventist church in Shattuck for Jacob BUSCH, pioneer resident of the Shattuck community, who died January 29. He was the father of Oras BUSCH of Perryton.
Mr. BUSCH died just five days later than his wife, Katie, who died in Shattuck on January 24.
He was 90 years, 9 months and 9 days of age. Born in Russia on April 20, 1862, he was married to Katie RUF in 1887 and the couple celebrated their 65th anniversary last year. He was baptised into the Seventh Day Adventist church in 1896.
In 1898 the couple came to America, settling first in Lehigh, Kansas and in 1901 he came to Oklahoma, living south of Shattuck, where they made their home until 1940.
Survivors include nine children, Katie SCHICK of Los Angeles, Mollie PENIGAR of Higgins, Annie DICK of Broomfield, Colo., Esther SCHUNK of Los Angeles, John BUSCH of Shattuck, Hanna PARIS of Barstow, Calif., Oras BUSCH of Perryton, Bill BUSCH of Keene, Texas, and Rose McCUSKER of Los Angeles. One child preceded his parents in death.
There are 36 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren as well as many other relatives and friends.
Burial was made in the Adventist cemetery at Shattuck.
