NORTH DIGHTON: Bobbie (Virginia, aka Ginger) Bennett, resident of North Dighton, passed away peacefully on February 21st, 2016 after a valiant fight with cancer. She's currently rolling her eyes at this obituary.

She was remembered fondly by her friends and family for being a true listener, a voice for big cats and dutifully mastering the skill of retweeting. When she wasn't furiously advocating against social injustices she could be found, just as furiously, advocating for her nephews Christopher and Delano Costa Hanlon on the soccer field. She spent many of her years suffering from a poor sense of direction and had seldom met a curb she couldn't hurdle.

As did Diogenes the Cynic, she was always seeking for the truth, even in her leisurely time reading books – no novels. She was selfless, kind-hearted and stubborn to a fault. She never took herself too seriously even after her diagnoses. "I am not that much of an invalid!" she would proclaim. Which spoke true to her character. She would always say that in her next life she would be in the Special Forces so – get ready world.

Daughter of the late Aurora Bouffard of Dighton; Bobbie is survived by her daughter Jasmine Monteiro and son Robert Monteiro Jr.

A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, February 26th, 2016 at Clube Espirito Santo (Holy Ghost Hall), 88 Wales St. Taunton between 11:30 am and 2:30 pm. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation with The Born Free Wildlife Foundation or Homes For Our Troops. Arrangements by the Marshall Funeral Home, Taunton.
