Mrs. Mariah "Jane" Ashton Dunham, 93, died Friday at her home in Jones Spring, WV. surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Dunham, born in a small house in Back Creek Valley of Berkeley County, was the daughter of the late J. Clifton "Cliff" Ashton and Ada Lee Pitzer Ashton and the widow of Ollen Ellsworth Dunham. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by a daughter, Wanda Boe Dyer; three grandchildren, John Paul, Matthew David and April Beth Dunham; one great grandchild, Tyler Willima Compher; one brother, Daniel Ashton and two daughters-in-law, Charlotte K. Payne Dunham and Faye Largent Dunham.

She was a loving mother and a faithful member of Central Chapel in Ganotown, who worked hard in her church teaching Sunday School. She was an active member of the WV Farm Bureau. In 1995 she received the WV Farm Bureau Distinguished Service Award. She was chairwoman of Region I,which consisted of Berkeley, Jefferson, Hampshire and Morgan Counties.

She is survived by six sons, D. Wayne Dunham and wife Vickie J., Daniel Ray Dunham and wife Dolly, Jerry Dunham and wife Vickie E., Rex Dunham and wife Patty, Janney Dunham, Dale Dunham and wife Betty; twenty-four grandchildren, fifty great grandchildren; six sisters-in-law; numerous nieces, nephews and other family and friends, and her caregiver, Idah Zirintusa.

The family received friends 5-8 pm, Monday, February 29, 2016 at the church.

The funeral services were held at 2 pm, Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at Central Chapel at Ganotown with Pastor Keith Walsworth officiating.

Burial was made in Central Chapel Cemetery at Ganotown.

The family entrusted the care of Mrs. Dunham to the Brown Funeral Home of Martinsburg, WV.
