Marjorie Marie Monk Johnson Tuisku. of Kaleva, peacefully passed away at the age of 99 on November 24. 2003 at Orchard Hill Adult Foster Care Home in Brethren, MI.

Marjorie was born on November 11, 1904 in Cherokee County, Galena, KS, to Henry Franklin and Orphia Ellen (Kuhns) Monk. Her family moved to Manistee County, MI in 1918.

Marjorie married Fred A. Johnson in 1924 and spent several hard-working years raising nine children on the family farm on Johnson Road located between Kaleva and Brethren, MI.
After Fred died in 1958, Marjorie moved to Kaleva and later married Alex L. Tuisku.

She remained very active in her family life until after Alex died in 1995. Marjorie devoted her life to her family and was always ready to care for her grandchildren when needed. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed sewing and crocheting. Marjorie was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church of Kaleva.

Surviving are: six daughters and four sons-in-law; Frances, Scodellaro of Allen Park, MI, Lucille Howes of Copemish, MI, Mary (Joy) Lenz of Kaleva, MI, Norma (Gerald) Merrill of Peoria, AZ, Bonnie (David) Mathews of Rockaway Beach. OR, and Linda (Sidney) Fraley of Manistee. MI; three sons
and two daugblers-in-law, Robert Johnson of Kaleva, MI, Cloyd Raymond (Eleanor) Johnson of Kaleva, MI, and Gene (Dalene) Johnson of Ypsilanti, MI; one sister-in-law, Jean Monk of Charlevoix, MI; two step-children, Dolores Tuisku of Safety Harbor, Fl, and Marie. (David) Milmine of Kaleva, MI; 30 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren, two great- great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren and four step- great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death was: her step-mother, Luella (Hough) Monk; two sons-in-law, Primo Scodellaro and Vernon Howes; four brothers, Homer, Howard, Clarence and Floyd Monk; six
half-sisters, Lula Mae, Mary, Viola, Stella, Hazel and Delores; four half-brothers, James, Henry Jr., Frank and Earl Monk; one step-son, Erland Tuisku; two grandchildren, Rex Johnson and Cynthia Fraley; four great-grandchildren, Shawn and Matthew Lenz, Michael Howes and Timothy Landers; and; one step-great-grandson, Zachary Tuisku.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 3 p.m., Wednesday, Nov 26 at Bethany Lutheran Church,
in Kaleva, with Pastor Donald Stroup officiating. Interment will be in the Brethren Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, from 3-6 pm at the Terwilliger Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Bethany Lutheran Church or to Munson Hospice.
Envelopes are available at the Terwilliger Funeral Home.
