James Bartholomew Carlson
April 14, 1956 ~ February 26, 2016 (age 59)

Jim was born in Oregon City, OR to Mary Jo and Ivan B Carlson. After attending St. John’s, Jim graduated from Oregon City High School in 1974. At this time, he started his truck driving career at Pepsi Bottling Co. in Portland OR. For many years he worked at Tony’s Fish Market in Oregon City, and then returned to driving truck for the produce industry working there until retirement.

On July 17, 1983, Jim married Polly Ann Cole at the “Chapel of the Chimes” in Lake Tahoe, NV. They resided in Oregon City with their two loving children, Mary and Paul.

Jim enjoyed his family life, his little farm, and hunting. He loved to play Texas hold ‘em but his true passion was playing pool. While he was team Captain, he cultivated many friendships and won too many trophies to count.

Jim was known for his wit and cheerful, uplifting nature. When Jim walked through the door everyone felt as if he was there for them personally. Let’s not forget, the nostalgic “green mushroom van” that’s been a part of him for 40 years.

Jim’s unselfish lifestyle has paid forward his place in heaven since he gave everyone the shirt off his back and half the cherry in his pocket.

Survivors include daughter Mary (Joe) and son Paul, grandchildren Joshua, Nicholas, William, and Savannah as well as numerous brothers, sisters, nephews, and nieces. Jim was preceded in death by the love of his life, Polly on December 2, 1994.

A memorial gathering will be held at the Redland Cemetery at 1PM Saturday March 5, 2016 located at the corner of Redland Rd and Lyons Rd. in Oregon City. A celebration of Life gathering will follow at the Coney Island Tavern in Oregon City.
