He was raised in Bay City, TX and graduated from Sweeney High School in 1960. He then earned an associate degree from Wharton Junior College. He married Virginia Ackerman in 1962. Les was the proud father of a son, John, and a daughter, ReGay.
They moved to Colorado in 1968 where he was employed by Pepsi-Cola, and Rocky Flats for 25 yrs, where he was known as Tex. Les enjoyed his job as a sheet-metal welder and took great pride in his work. He was always willing to help friends and family with any project.
In 1982, he married Kathleen M. Beldt and they resided in Loveland until the time of his death. He is survived by his wife Kathy, son John (Gina), daughter ReGay (Mitch) Fiechtner, and grandchildren Connor, Sarah (Jesse), Brentnie (Jonathan), Gunnar, Aubree, Kaylee, Bethanie, Andrew and Stephan, and 1 great-granddaughter. In addition, he is survived by 2 sisters, Inez Groves of New Mexico, and Annette Gibson of Texas, many Sister-in Laws, Brother-in-Laws, nieces, and nephews.
He also loved nature and wildlife. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and sports enthusiast of any sport. Les did not know a stranger, and could talk to everyone he met. A Memorial Service will be 1:30 PM March 4, 2016 at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel 326 Terry St. Longmont, Colorado 80501. His cremated remains will be interred at a later date.
