Nancy was the 2nd of 10 children of James Alexander McMurry and Elizabeth Moore. Nancy is buried next to them, on the south side.

Nancy's headstone inscription reads, "Nancy, wife of James King, 1844-1922."

McMurry family history information states that Nancy, "Nan," was born Sept. 13, 1842 at Donegal, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania and died May 1, 1922, and that Nancy was married to Steven J. Compton. (Family Group Chart by Dwight Baker, Suisun City, California, 1991.)
Additional info on this from Julia McMurry citing family sources: "James S. King and Stephen Steven S. Compton were the same person. I do not know why he used an alias. King was born December 3, 1846 in Pittsburgh, Pa. In 1880 he lived in Colorado. In 1910 he lived in Maher, Montrose County, Colorado. In 1920 he lived in Fort Dodge, Ford County, Kansas. He married Nancy E. McMurry July 2, 1872 at Georgetown, Clear Creek, Colorado. He was a Civil War veteran, pension #1156534, died April 17, 1933, Fort Dodge, Ford County, Kansas. He had lived at the Old Soldiers Home at Fort Dodge. He is buried at Highland Cemetery, Minneapolis, Ottawa County, Kansas. He had two children, Auda and Clyde. Nancy (McMurry) King died in 1922 at Fort Dodge, Ford County, Kansas."

When Nancy's brother, Hartman "Doc," died in 1912, his obit listed his sister Nancy as Mrs. Nancy Compton of Dodge City.

Thu. Oct. 2, 1913 The Dodge City Globe; "James King has filed a suit for divorce from Nancy King. King lives at the Soldier's Home and alleges that his wife has left him to make her home in Hutchinson."
