Donald William Albertson, 61, passed away in his Voorhees home surrounded by his loving family on February 28, 2016. He had courageously fought pancreatic cancer for 2½ years. Don was born in Riverside, NJ on March 30, 1954 to the late John G and Rena E (Lacy) Albertson. He grew up in Riverton NJ and attended Palmyra High School. He served in the United States Air Force as an airplane technician from 1972-1974. After being honorably discharged, Don attended Burlington County College, graduated from Rutgers University in 1983 and did post-graduate work at Temple University’s Master’s Program and Westminster Theological Seminary.

Most of his career was with the United States Post Office at the Marlton NJ facility. He coached his daughters’ soccer and softball teams in Cinnaminson and was an actively involved parent in the middle and high school drama clubs. He was an avid reader and enjoyed collecting books. Passionate at writing, his novel, “Catch a Rising Star: the Adult Game of Youth Sports” was published in 2006. Don loved traveling and especially enjoyed cruising. He also was an avid genealogist.

He is survived by his devoted wife Carolyn “my Jeannie” (Claeys) Albertson (married November 30, 2004) and his four cherished daughters, Diana (Warren) Saunders, Megan (Kevin) Cannon, Kristin (Jesse) Titus and Elizabeth Albertson. “Grandpop” was very proud of and enjoyed his precious grandchildren, Julia and Jason Cannon, Vanessa and Levi Titus and Alexander and Zoe Saunders. Also surviving him is a brother, John R Albertson and a brother-in-law, James R Claeys. His furry grand dog Bevin offered him much joy.

Cremation has taken place. Calling hours will take place at the Bradley Funeral Home, 601 Route 73 South, Marlton NJ 08053 on Saturday, March 5 from 10:00 am to noon. A celebration of life service will commence at noon, officiated by Rev. Libby Smith.

The family wishes to thank the MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper especially Drs Alexandre Hageboutrous and Mark Angelo and their staff for their medical knowledge, excellent treatment and care. Thanks also go to Samaritan Hospice for the compassion and care provided, especially to nurse Carly Callihan and health aid Thomas Jaworski.
