Laurie was formerly employed by RCDD & Affiliates for over 20 years where she was the Regional Director for the Northern Region. She was currently employed by the Oshkosh School District, teaching autistic children at Carl Traeger School. Laurie spent most of her life serving people with special needs. She was a member of St. Raphael Catholic Church.
Laurie's life revolved around her family and friends as she took great pleasure in welcoming them into her home, cooking for them, and planning vacations and get-away weekends. She will be remembered by family and friends as someone who could always make people laugh, smile, and feel special. She will be missed by everyone whose life she touched.
Survivors include her husband; five children; her mother; two sisters; one brother; two sisters-in-law; 9 nieces and nephews; several great nieces and nephews; along with her dog Zena and grand-dog, Tubby. Preceding Laurie in death are her father, Robert Kleman, grandparents, and father and mother-in-law, Harold and Doris Hoopman.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 23, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. in St. Raphael Catholic Church, 830 Westhaven Dr., with Reverend Carl Schmitt and Reverend Daniel Felton co-celebrants. Entombment will be in Lake View Memorial Park. A time of visitation and support will be held on Thursday from 4:00 to 7:30 p.m. at the church, where a prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will also be held on Friday from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the church. Memorials are requested to Oshkosh Area School District Autism Program.
