Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, where there will be a parish wake service at 7:30 p.m.
She was born on Aug. 6, 1918, in Galena, Ill., daughter of George and Belva (Duncan) Dunwoody. She married Orville Greenwood on June 10, 1940, in Maquoketa, Iowa; he preceded her in death on June 1, 1972.
She was a lifelong resident of Dubuque.
She was a homemaker who loved taking care of other people. Gert especially enjoyed cooking and collecting recipes. She would at times bake gifts for the holidays. Gert loved her dogs and working crossword puzzles.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Surviving are a son, Gerald "Jerry" (Kay) Greenwood, of Dubuque; three sisters, Dolores (Justin) Finn and Rosemary Priest, both of Dubuque, and Margie (Bob) Bastian, of Peru, Ill.; and seven grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by a son, William Greenwood; two sisters; and seven brothers.
