Mona Lou Horstketter, age 58, a Manitowoc resident, died Thursday, March 3, 2016 at St. Vincent Hospital, Green Bay. She was born on April 27, 1957 in Lockport, NY, daughter of Denton and Marlene (Thielbar) Schmidt. Mona was a graduate of Mishicot High School, Class of 1975. On April 20, 1996 she married James Horstketter at Holy Innocents Catholic Church, Manitowoc. Mona was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish. She was an avid card player and enjoyed crocheting and knitting many beautiful items to give to friends and relatives. Mona loved spending time at their property up north. She was active in volunteering in local organizations.Survivors included her parents: Denton and Marlene Schmidt; one sister and brother-in-law: Vicki and Scott Wichlacz; one brother and sister-in-law: Leon and Laura Schmidt; one niece: Sara (Tim) Haney and their son Evan; and two nephews: Michael (Aimee) Schmidt and their daughter Addison, and David Schmidt. Other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by an infant brother: Randy Schmidt and her husband: James Horstketter in 2014.Cremation has occurred at All-Care Cremation Center, Manitowoc. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Service will be Deacon Alan Boeldt. Entombment of Mona's cremated remains will occur at Calvary Mausoleum, Manitowoc, at a later date.
