Carol was born on April 17, 1928 in a log cabin in DeKalb, MO the daughter of Ernest and Jewell (White) Cawley. She was the oldest of 7 children. Her early childhood years were spent mostly in the DeKalb area as her father was a tenant farmer there. The earliest memories of her life are the times spent with her family experiencing the farm life.

When Carol was 8 years old the family moved to St. Joseph, MO. which is where she spent the remainder of her youth. The family eventually moved to the house on 29th and Plattsburg Ave. which became the family home for the next 40 years. Carol attended school in St. Joseph and graduated from Central High School in 1947. After graduation, Carol worked several jobs at the W.T. Grant's Store and Woolworth Dept. Store.

After moving to St. Joseph, the family started attending the RLDS church. Carol was baptized into the church with several of her family members at the 17th St. Church. She was a faithful member of the church and that relationship became central in her family, spiritual and social life. Carol was ordained into the priesthood as a Priest and then an Elder.

It was through church activities that Carol met her first husband, Marion Middleton. They were married in 1950. After residing for a short while in Colorado the couple settled in St. Joseph where Marion was a lineman for St. Joseph Power and Light and Carol became a housewife. Through this union four children were born; Deanna, Russell, Lowell, and Teresa. Tragedy struck the family in 1961 when Marion was killed in a work place accident.

In 1964, Carol married John Everett Adams and moved with her children to the farm in the Guilford, Mo community. She became a fixture in that community and was a very active member of the Guilford Community of Christ Congregation. In 1969 Everett and Carol bought the Garage and Service Station in Guilford and operated it until 1989. They spent many loving years together on the farm and provided a welcoming environment especially for their grandchildren to come and experience the country life. Carol was especially known for her Taco dinners which she fixed at almost all of the family gatherings. After Everett died in 2011 Carol moved to Savannah, MO where she lived until her passing.

Carol was an accomplished artist. Carol painted and sold paintings commercially. She had paintings in the Albright gallery and had exhibits at Heartland Hospital. She was very active in providing crafts activities at church reunions, youth organizations, and at Camp Quality where she designed the original camp symbol of the hot air balloon. Carol was also known for needle work making baby quilts for family and friends.

Carol was also a very talented vocalist and sang for many church and community activities. She was said to of had perfect pitch in her voice and her singing was enjoyed by all who had the opportunity to listen.

Carol is proceeded in death by her parents, her husband's Marion Middleton and Everett Adams, her brothers Roy, Ben, Harold, and Richard Cawley, her grandsons Jeremy Jerome Middleton and Jesse Middleton, and her granddaughter Autumn Nordin.

Carol was an inspiration to all she came in contact with. She had an infectious smile and loved to engage in conversation with those around her. Carol had a genuine concern for others and spent many an hour giving comfort and administering to those in need, always wearing the angel wings on her shoulder She was a great story teller and loved to share her experiences and memories. Carol was deeply loved and will be missed. We are all blessed to have been associated with her.
