Julius J. Perry, 81, formerly of Rapid City, died at the James E. VanZandt V.A. Medical Center in Altoona, Pennsylvania on Sat., Sept. 16, 2006.

Julius James Perry was born Dec. 31, 1924 in Gallitzin, PA to Cesare and Oristella (Turtulliano) Perry. This is where he grew up and attended high school. He was proud to have served with the U.S. Army in the Battle of the Bulge during WW2. He then served in the Air National Guard from 1956 to 1958. He married Arlene Davison in 1964, whom he met while stationed at Ellsworth Air Force Base in South Dakota. His military service ended April of 1962. His service medals included the European Theatre Service Medal with 5 Bronze Stars, the Victory Medal, and the Air Force Longevity Service Award. After the Rapid City flood of l972, he helped to rebuild the playgrounds in the city parks. He retired as a railroad dispatcher for the Burlington Northern at Gillette, WY.

He is survived by two daughters, Julie (Mike) Ginn of Hay Springs, NE, Christal Grimm (Robert Raue) of Rapid City; one step daughter, Sherri Riss of Rapid City; two step sons: Bruce (Kelly) Davison of Neenah, WI and Guy Davison of Rapid City; one brother, Francis A. Perry of Ebensburg, PA, 19 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and three sisters.

Services are set for Sept. 21, 2006 in the Chapel of the Whispering Pines at Pine Lawn Memorial Park in Rapid City with Father Marcin Garbacz officiating. Military honors will be presented by VFW Post 1273 of Rapid City.
