A native of Oconee County, Mr. Allen was a son of the late Walter Johnson and Avis Cartey Allen.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during World War II, receiving the Purple Heart. Mr. Allen was retired from the United States Post Office, with 23 years of service. He was a member of Hull Baptist Church, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and a member of the Order of Purple Hearts.
Mr. Allen was preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia Allen.
Funeral services were held at Hull Baptist Church. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Ethel Allen; one daughter, Felisha Allen, Hull; two sons, Jefferey Allen, Rome, and Mark Coile, Hull; four step-children, Linda Hobbs, Athens, Elaine Hunter, Bogart, Dwayne Bryant, Hull, and James C. Bryant, Charlotte, N.C.; two sisters, Martha Pittman, Gainesville, and Sara Allen, Milledgeville; five step-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild.
